CEB-MNL

CEB-MNL

Scary landing on
PR1850
A321-200
rego RP-C9916.

Wasn't the reverse thrust working? The plane didn't seem to slow down after the reverse thrust had been engaged for sometimes. I was thinking if the plan will skied off the runway...

All was well.

B747, Queen of the Skies! (Part 1)

B747, Queen of the Skies!

I have traveled numerous times on B747, both 300 and 400 variants. My first flight in my life was with Cathay Pacific CX713 on 29/6/1997 and it was a B747! Subsequently, I traveled many times on Singapore Airlines B747-300 and B747-400. And another airline was Delta that I was on B747 from NRT to LAX and back.

I visited the Singapore Airshow on the 18 February 2012 with a friend of mine. Singapore Airlines last B747 9V-SPQ was on static display. And it was also announced on the 17 February 2012 that Singapore Airlines is replacing SQ860 of A330 with SQ747 and SQ748 farewell commemorative flight! Without much hesitation, I booked both flights after my Airshow visit.

After almost two months wait, 6 April finally arrived. It was 3:00am but I felt that I have to catch some sleep. I set the alarm to ring at 5:00am and 5:30am. Unfortunately I did not wake up and was only woken up by a horn sound of a bus on the street at 6:30am. It gave me a big shock and I quickly rushed to shower and got changed and headed down to the airport. It still trilled me till today of what will happen if the bus hadn't horned...

I reached the airport at 7:05am, did a fast check in and headed straight to the immigration. I realised I had to find the shades at C&K for another friend of mine whom I will meet in HK, time damaged 20 minutes. Being a very greedy person, I headed down to Silver Kris Lounge which is in the opposite direction from the gate B7 which I was supposed to go!! Shacked. After reaching the lounged, I was told to get a quick grab and the buggy will send me to the gate B7. What an embarrassing moment on the buggy.

The performances were already ending by the time I reached the gate at 7:47am. Mr Mak, EVP of Singapore Airlines Commercial had finished his speech and the boarding had begun.

My seat, 14K on the upper deck which I have pre-selected on the website before the flight. I have only traveled on Economy class for 747. When I was a young kid traveling as an unaccompanied minor, the the chief steward will always bring me to sit in first class before landing as to facilitate quicker exit.

Back to SQ747, once on board, hand luggage stowed, I was off down the stairs to shoot pictures! Push back started at 8:31am and the aircraft was airborne from runway 02C by 8:52am. After the seat belt sign had been turned off, I was free again to move around to get some more shoots.

Flying over the North pole and the Artic ocean - 24 November 2011

I have always had the idea that to fly half way around the globe would be flying either to the East or the West.

on 24 November 2011, I was on China Eastern Flight MU587 from PVG(Shanghai) to JFK(New York). It was A340-600, B-6051, the ultra long-range commercial aircraft.

The flight time was 15 hours. The plane headed north and flew over the Northpole and the Arctic ocean. It entered Canada from the north and headed to New York.

Through out the flights, 3 meals were served. 2 full meals and 1 breakfast. The seats were comfortable though I couldn't fall asleep on my flight to JFK.

Flight Experience May 2010

I always dream of flying an aircraft and on this day, I decided to visit the Singapore Flyer. I did not go there to be in the flyer cabin but to try a B737-NG flight simulator at Flight Experience. It was an hour flight which cost me about the price of Singapore to Bangkok round trip ticket.

I flew two trips. The first one was taking off from London and making a round and land at the same airport. The second was taking off from Macau, doing tough and go at Chek Lap Kok and doing 47 degrees Hong Kong turn and land at Kai Tak.

I had video taken which I kept it in my little aviation museum.

It was a good experience. But it is going to be another long time before I try it again.
